About the 2015 PRIA National Conference

Conference Theme: Huge Transformations

This world-class learning opportunity is designed to explore 3 key questions:

  • Where have we come from?
  • Where are we at now?
  • Where to next?

Here is why you ought to attend our National Conference this year.

Public Relations has the power to help bring about huge transformations in the world around us, how we live and the way we work. The work of PR practitioners covers the full gamut, from inspirational community engagement to coping with disasters and crises; from climate change to domestic violence; from how best to communicate about the great issues of our day to campaigns, which make us healthier and happier; and from corporate and organisational success to innovative, strategic decisions about complex communications environments.

This is your chance to manifest a huge transformation in your own career and organisation. Our goal is for you to leave with a new vigour to make a transformative, meaningful impact through your work. We will provide you with a vast wealth of inspirational ideas and equip you with the expert knowledge you need to transform your practice.

The PRIA National Conference brings together practitioners, international communication experts, business innovators and government leaders to discuss the real-world case studies, leadingedge research, latest innovations and creative best-practice examples which characterise huge transformations.

Mike Watson | FPRIA
PRIA National President

PRIA: Our Story

The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) is the national industry body for public relations and communication professionals in Australia. PRIA represents and provides professional support and recognition to over 4,000 practitioners and more than 100 consultancies nationwide.

Since 1949, it has been PRIA’s role to promote and enhance the profession and its status to the broader community. PRIA enforces the highest standards of ethical practice and represent public relations practitioners in the best interests of the profession.

The PRIA National Conference is our principal annual professional development offering to members and to the PR and Communication profession. This event is the vehicle we use to strive towards our strategic vision to deliver exceptional, relevant and lifelong learning opportunities; engage public relations and communication professionals and stakeholders in a diverse, welcoming community; and to provide ideas, tools and resources for public relations practitioners and organisations.

Host City – Hobart, Tasmania

Hobart is a city of complementary contradictions that embodies our ‘Huge Transformations’ theme. With a contrasting blend of history, modern and heritage scenery, combined with traditional culture and eccentric experiences, Australia’s second oldest capital city has changed dramatically in recent years. Ranking fourth in in the world’s “Top 10 Regions in the World to Visit in 2015” in the Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel 2015’ publication, there’s never been a better time to visit.

PLEASE NOTE: We encourage you to book your travel (if applicable) returning home on Wednesday 28 October, as Tuesday afternoon's program will feature some world-class content and speakers. Flights departing Hobart are also more frequent in the morning that in the afternoon.
