The University of Canberra's degree of Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations), offered by the School of Professional Communication, reflects UC's mission to provide the highest level of professional undergraduate education in Australia. As well as teaching theory, writing techniques, practice and strategy in the discipline, the degree also requires students to undertake a year-long internship unit involving both practical on-the-job learning under the supervision of a PR practitioner as well as in-depth academic work.  The public relations internship is regarded highly by both students and employers.

The inclusion of elective units in the degree allows students to combine other disciplines to enhance job opportunities and enrich their intellectual development. In addition to the PR specialisation, and unique among PR degrees available in Australia, students are required to undertake a full 24 credit point load of core communication units. These offer a wide variety of choices in topic and focus, and provide each student with a unique grounding in the broader disciplines of communication.
