Following on from a successful trial last year, PRIA (VIC) is establishing more professional peer groups to support its members’ professional development.
These small groups of professionals meet regularly to share current issues, obstacles and successes in an environment that allows for mutual learning and support.
The focus is not securing leads or new business. It is about professional development; sharing your experience, knowledge and learning from your peers to further develop your career. Plus, they are great fun!
The group meets monthly to discuss topics of interest to them. They are run and “owned” by the group members. PRIA's industry development coordinator forms the groups and assists them with logistics such as meeting structure, meeting dates, times, costs and location.
Register your interest by emailing your contact details and CV/bio to vic@pria.com.au.
“I have found PRIA's peer group invaluable, especially as a newcomer to Melbourne . People generously share their successes, as well as their lessons learnt, all in a collegiate ambiance of trust and respect. The group has been a wonderful sounding board for professional challenges and has helped build my confidence as a communications practitioner.”
“The meetings provide a safe and generous environment to share wins as well as problems. As the only communications employee in my organisation, the group gives me the colleagues I don’t have and an external perspective I don’t get elsewhere. It's been a fun and rewarding way to stay connected."
"Great ideas and clever solutions to varied challenges have been freely shared. As a result I believe that we've all developed professionally and learnt to value our own strengths and the experiences we have to offer, as well as appreciating and benefiting from the competence and professionalism of the other members of our group.”
"It's great to get some honest feedback from a peer group. It is one of the rare opportunities you get to discuss some concepts in confidence.”
