Victorian mentoring program

PRIA Victoria Mentoring Program

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from communication professionals who would like to be involved in the PRIA Professional Mentor Program.

This program aims to provide mid-level public relations professionals (5-9 years experience) with a senior and experienced public relations mentor that can provide advice on performance and operational matters.

Whether you decide to be a mentor or mentee, this complimentary program available to PRIA Victoria members is a great development opportunity.

Mentoring helps to balance professionalism, curiosity, insight and decision making to improve personal and corporate performance. It can be a great way to expand your perspective when navigating your communications career, or a way to give back to your industry by helping develop the careers of aspiring practitioners.

Becoming a Professional Public Relations Mentor - Mentors must have from 10 years + PR experience.

You will gain many benefits from giving your time, including:

  • Insights from your mentee's background - it may be very different from your own
  • Satisfaction in sharing your expertise with others
  • Re-energizing your own career with fresh issues
  • Networking opportunities
  • Learning about other areas of expertise

You'll be exactly what we're looking for if you:

  • Have around 10 years + experience within the communications industry
  • Are willing to join the program for a 6 or 12 month period
  • Are generous with your personal examples and experiences
  • Are a leader who is interested in helping others succeed in their careers
  • Can engage in phone calls, coffees or whatever meetings may need to take place with your mentee
  • Are a great problem solver with a positive and open perspective.

You'll have the opportunity to work with your mentee to develop a program that suits both your requirements and needs.

To show your interest please fill out this quick form and attach your CV.

Our Mentor Program Coordinator will get in contact with you soon to discuss your involvement.

Becoming a Public Relations Mentee

You will gain many benefits from your mentor, including:

  • Increased skills and knowledge from a respected source
  • Regular and constructive feedback
  • Development of confidence and enhanced self esteem
  • Networking opportunities
  • Access to opportunities that will contribute to personal and professional development.

You'll be exactly what we're looking for if you:

  • Are curious about ways to make better business decisions
  • Are keen to broaden your understanding of the communications industry
  • Would like to problem solve with an expert who has an external perspective
  • Are open-minded and willing to hear suggestions or alternative approaches.

Currently, we only have a limited number of opportunities for mentorship. However, we intend expanding the program once more mentors are recruited.

We'll also try to match people as best as possible, although it will be the responsibility of the mentor and mentee to define the duration of their relationship.

To show your interest please download the mentee application form, complete it and forward it, together with your CV to Andrea Davies at andrea.davies@nec.com.au

If you have any queries, don't hesitate to contact Andrea.
