Sydney - The Perfect Pitch - New Practitioners Event - SOLD OUT

April 24, 2007

The pitch is what is going to make or break you in PR… if you get it right, you’re in… if not then things become a lot harder. Strong media relations skills are vital for every PR practitioner. Pitching to journalists is an art that can be developed over time, it is however useful to know the do’s and don’ts and a few handy hints from the journalists themselves.

The Public Relations Institute of Australia’s New Practitioners Group is hosting a night where a panel of journos will discuss the good and bad points of PR and media relations. Come and find out how to perform the ‘Perfect Pitch’, listen to journalists from popular media outlets, BRW, Sydney Morning Herald and Channel Nine. The panel will be made up of three journalists.

  • Tony Biancotti (former producer for Today Show and Getaway, currently corporate media trainer for Talkforce), will give fantastic feedback on working with broadcast media, complete with tips that you can put straight into action as soon as you get back to the office.
  • David Flynn (freelancer for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Roam Magazine, ZDNet to name a few). David used to be Editor for SMH's ICON (consumer tech section) and has also worked on the PR side of things as Public Relations Manager for SBS.
  • Tony Blackie (Senior Journalist at BRW), after managing his own public relations consultancy, Tony returned to journalism in October 2006 and is well positioned to provide advice from both sides of the fence.
