Category 1: Government Sponsored Campaigns Coordinator

Paul Crisp, CEO Communications, Telstra Corporation Ltd

Head of the CEO Engagement Team at Telstra, Paul has been with the company for ten years – previously holding the position of Corporate Affairs Manager Tasmania & Victoria in Government Relations. Paul has been President of the Victoria State Council, chaired the Victoria State Awards for Excellence Committee and has been the recipient of several state and national Golden Target Awards.


Category 2: Public Affairs Coordinator

Brian Watt, Director, Communications and Public Affairs, Newmont Mining Corporation

Brian became a member of PRIA as a student at QUT and has continued over the last 32 years, working at a management level in corporate public affairs and communication - the past 10 years in senior and leadership levels of multinational companies. Brian has experience judging awards as a former President of the Society of Business Communicators (Serif Awards), as a Queensland GTA judge and in BHP Billiton’s Annual Global Sustainability/ Community Relations Awards, drawn from operations in over 100 locations in 25 countries.

Category 3: Issues Management and Crisis Communication Coordinator

Chris Newman: Senior Vice President & General Manage, Fleishman-Hillard Australia

Chris’ 15 years as a corporate communicator and issues management specialist spans New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the UAE and Australia. He has led the development and implementation of communication strategies for some of the world’s leading brands and organisations, including Philips, Lockheed Martin Aerospace, Chobani, British Airways, McCAIN Foods, Hyatt International, GM Holden and Bakrie Group.


Category 4: Community Relations Coordinator

Ava Lawler, General Manager, Weber Shandwick

Ava has spent more than two decades consulting to companies on how to liberate their potential through effective communications in Australia and also across Asia, Europe and South Africa. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Ava was in a global role with Text100, driving the firm’s digital transformation and talent development programs. During her career Ava has consulted locally and regionally with a range of organisations including: ANZ, Bayer, Commonwealth Bank, Microsoft, Nokia, Virgin Mobile and Telstra.

Category 5: Internal /Change Management Communications Coordinator

Isabelle Johnson, Corporate Communications Manager Strategic Projects, Ergon Energy

With substantial experience in developing, deploying and evaluating large-scale communications campaigns in Australia and overseas, Isabelle also has hands-on experience in writing successful award entries. Isabelle has become a trusted advisor to Executive Teams, colleagues and industry peers particularly on employee communications, crisis communications and social media, and was a panel judge at Ergon Energy’s ‘Above and Beyond’ employee recognition program.


Category 6: Investor Relations Coordinator

Paul Cheal, General Manager, Honner Media

Paul brings more than 10 years’ communications experience working as a journalist and PR agency practitioner. As general manager of specialist financial services communication consultancy Honner Media, Paul oversees all client relationships and drives the agency’s day to day operations. He uses his deep understanding of the Australian financial services, pensions and investment landscape to provide senior advice to clients on communication strategy, brand reputation, issues and crisis management. Paul is also a casual academic, tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate students in PR and communications at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Category 7: Consumer Marketing Coordinator

Jackie Crossman, Managing Director, Crossman Communications

With a reputation for quickly grasping the issues and innovative solutions, Jackie prides herself on delivering nuts and bolts programs for everyday impact. Jackie started as a cadet with Radio New Zealand and then moved into PR with Burson-Marsteller. In 1988, she founded the successful New Zealand consultancy Crossman Communications which eventually became Porter Novelli NZ, before forming Crossman Communications in Australia in 2003


Category 8: Business-to-Business Marketing Coordinator

Tarnya Dunning, General Manager, Retail Communications, Corporate Affairs, Telstra

Tanya is a senior corporate affairs and PR practitioner bringing with her nearly two decades of experience in corporate communications and public affairs, public relations, and internal communications and change management. Prior to Telstra, held the greenfields role as public affairs manager for ASX-listed Evans Deakin Industries Ltd (now EDI-Downer) and worked in Queensland-based PR agencies.


Category 9: Sustainability/ Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator

Donald Alexander, Senior PR Lecturer, Charles Sturt University, Bathurst

Donald has over 30 years’ experience in the public relations industry in New Zealand and Australia and has served on the state executives of the PRIA in Victoria and New South Wales. He has held senior management positions in corporate communication roles for organisations such as Nissan Motor Company, American Express and AMP. Donald was also the founding managing partner of two consultancies and served as a judge for the state awards over 15 years ago. He believes that awards substantially contribute to raising industry standards of excellence.


Category 10: Health Organisations Coordinator

Andrew Walton, Group Public Affairs Manager, HBF Health Ltd

Andrew has worked in a public relations and corporate communications roles for the past twenty years including leading the public relations teams in two of Western Australia’s highest profile organisations; Lotterywest and HBF. Andrew has experience in every aspect of public affairs, including media liaison, internal communications, issues management and advocacy.


Category 11: Low Cost/Pro Bono Coordinator

Fergus Kibble, Managing Director, F4 Consulting

Fergus is a senior executive with a record of driving business & brand initiatives that deliver outstanding revenue, market share growth and shareholder value across various categories. Good at building relationships, developing /mentoring staff and conflict resolution, Fergus has global experience through living/working in three countries. After being General Manager of Hill + Knowlton for 4 years, Fergus has been running his own consultancy for the past year.


Category 12: Best Use of Analytics Coordinator

Lee McLean, General Manager, PPR Queensland

Lee McLean has over 30 uninterrupted years of public relations experience, conducting a wide variety of communication campaigns in government, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, FMCG, mining, construction and property sectors. Lee’s strengths are strategy development, media training, workshop facilitation and issues/ crisis management. She has been a PRIA Fellow since 2002, a GTA judge for 15 years and was appointed a SABRE Awards judge in 2012.


Category 13: Emerging PR Practitioner of the Year Coordinator

Katharina Wolf, Lecturer in Public Relations, Curtin University

Katharina is working as an academic in public relations at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. She has fifteen years of communications and media experience as an educator and practitioner, encompassing roles in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Australia. Katharina is the current President of PRIA WA and a former Chairperson of PRIA Young Guns.


Category 14: PR Consultancy of the Year Coordinator

Lelde McCoy, Managing Director, The Reputation Group

Lelde is a behaviour change expert who has solid experience in multi -faceted private and public sector communications. She has directed state and national campaigns including strategy development, reputation management, media publicity, issues management, stakeholder engagement and community relations. Lelde is a Fellow and former National President of PRIA. She is the current Vice President of the Australian Social Marketing Association


Category 15: In house PR team of the year Coordinator

Peter Taylor, Vice President, Corporate & Government Affairs, Carnival Australia

Prior to his present role, Peter spent eight years at Telstra’s retail business units, served as Communications Advisor (Public Transport) at the Victorian Department of Infrastructure, and was for several years at PR agency Turnbull Porter Novelli (now Porter Novelli). On top of being a previous PR Week Asia Pacific ‘Young practitioner of the year’ award winner and a PRIA judge, Peter was also a B&T Awards judge in 2012.


Category 16: PR Educator of the Year Coordinator

Jim Macnamara, Professor of Public Communication, University of Technology Sydney

Jim has a 30-year professional career in the media, public relations and media research. He is a specialist in research for strategic planning and measurement of communication with a research background including media analysis, e-surveys, reputation research and communication audits. He took up the post of Professor of Public Communication and Director of the Australian Centre for Public Communication at UTS in 2007 after selling CARMA International (Asia Pacific), the media research company which he founded, to iSentia (formerly Media Monitors).


Campaign of the Year Coordinator

Kieran Moore, Chief Executive Officer, Ogilvy Public Relations

With over 26 years' experience, Kieran's expertise covers media relations, reputation management, public relations strategy development and implementation, crisis management and corporate positioning for business to business and consumer focused companies. Kieran accepted the position of GTA Chair in March this year to champion and reinvigorate the prestigious industry awards which have showcased campaign excellence since 1976. Her first priority has been to align the Golden Target Awards with international best practice.
