Nominations opened on September 1 and close on October 15, 2010. Commenting on the awards, PublicAffairsAsia’s Executive Director, Craig Hoy, said: “These awards celebrate the achievements of corporations, governments and NGOs and identify those professionals, consultancies and governmental figures who are driving this important process of engagement and partnership in Asia Pacific.”
Commenting on the programme, Lynne Anne Davis, President of Fleishman‐Hillard Asia Pacific and a lead award sponsor, said: “Public affairs is a high‐stakes arena for multinational companies since success or failure in Asia Pacific today has a direct impact on the global development of their businesses. That’s what makes this an exciting programme for our profession and we are proud to support it.”
News Corporation this year becomes the sponsor of The Gold Standard Award for Diplomatic Engagement, a new category celebrating excellence by ambassadors and diplomatic missions. News Corporation's Senior Vice President of Government Relations (Asia), Joe Welch, said: "News Corporation respects the role ambassadors and embassies play globally and in Asia. This award will recognise the highly skilled commercial and public affairs work they do, often as catalysts, connecting stakeholders and setting events in motion that lead to new opportunities and significant economic expansion.”
The awards programme has also expanded to include the important work conducted by NGOs in Asia Pacific, with Weber Shandwick supporting a new award for NGO engagement. Commenting on the award, Weber Shandwick’s Asia Pacific Executive Vice President, John Russell, said: “Until now NGOs originating in Europe and North America have set the tone and agenda. With the rise of civil society NGOs originating here in Asia will have a growing influence locally and impact internationally. This is something Weber Shandwick welcomes and will continue to support.”
