NSW: Demystifying Government Relations October 2012

We all know it’s important to talk to government stakeholders but don’t know where to start or who we should be talking to. Who’s important to your campaign and who’s not? How do you take those first important steps? Where does social media fit in and how best to deploy it? What the heck is a minority party or cross-bench MP and are they really important?

And with the Federal parliamentary scene constantly evolving what do you really need to know. Who are the key players and how do you approach them? In this workshop you’ll explore:

  • The basics of government relations for corporates and non-profits
  • Planning your government relations campaign
  • Who to target
  • Preparing key messages for government
  • How to land a meeting with a minister, opposition spokesperson, MP or adviser
  • Federal Parliament 101 – the key players, what works with them and how to navigate Canberra.
