Webinar: Social Media and Public Relations: Eight New Practices for the PR Professional

Social media has reignited the PR profession. Practitioners are expanding their roles, as they shift from communication facilitators and handlers to strategic PR champions and influencers. They are taking on new responsibilities in their organisations, which are not only exciting, but also challenging at the same time. When PR meets social media, PR professionals have the opportunity to expand their practices.

Deirdre Breakenridge, author of “Social Media and Public Relations: Eight New Practices for the PR Professional,” discusses how to break down the marketing silos and to discover a more strategic approach to social media for your company. The Eight New Practices include: The PR Policymaker, Internal Collaboration Generator, COMMS Organizer, PR Tech Tester, Pre-Crisis Doctor, Relationship Organizer, Reputation Task Force Member and the Master of the Metrics.

With a special emphasis on the PR Policymaker, COMMS Organizer and Master of the Metrics practices, PR professionals will learn how to:

• Spearhead a team of social media visionaries and strategist who will participate in audits, policy development and social governance.
• Develop processes to foster increased employee collaboration and innovation for more productive communications programs and greater impact.
• Create a structured approach to social media sharing across the organization, breaking down the silos, so PR does not work in a vacuum.
• Build a program that offers executives the metrics they expect vs. the program analytics to show varying levels of audience participation.
