Michael Watson, FPRIA February 2013 - 2015

Former Officer for the College of Fellows, Michael Watson is a lecturer at Swinburne University in Melbourne, has worked in government and run a consultancy advising commercial and non-profits.

He’s been deeply involved in the PRIA for over twenty years and wants PRIA to be a great force for communication professionals.

Terri-Helen Gaynor 2012 - 2013

Terri-Helen is a strategic communications specialist with over 30 years international experience in both the private and public sectors and Managing Director of an award winning public relations agency founded in 2003. Previously, she served on PRIA's Mentoring Committee and the NSW Council.

Nicholas Turner, MPRIA 2011 - 2012

Nic's background is with Corporate Communications (Tas) Pty Ltd, based in Hobart, Tasmania. Other former national presidents have come from the same consultancy including; Tony Harrison FPRIA, and consultancy founder Greg Ray FPRIA.

Nic started as a director of the PRIA board in 2001, and worked with a number of presidents over the 10 years, most closely with Robina Xavier.

Robina Xavier, FPRIA 2009 - 2011

Professor Robina Xavier was appointed to the QUT Business School as Executive Dean, following her tenure as PRIA National President.

Professor Xavier was Head of QUT's School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations for six years.

Tracy Jones FPRIA - 2008 - 2009
Tracy has extensive experience in PR and Marketing Communication, having worked in politics, government and the education sector before establishing her own consultancy Creative Territory in Darwin.

Tracy started her career as a journalist, before moving into the public relations industry where she held senior positions in government and the local university.

Tracy has won four national and 11 state awards for public relations and marketing excellence and was invited to become a Fellow of the PRIA in 2003.

Annabelle Warren FPRIA - 2005 - 2007, Chairman Primary Communication
Annabelle has extensive experience in corporate strategy development and Asia Pacific communication programs. She is presently National Chair of PRIA's Registered Consultancy Group.

For several years she worked in Asia as Executive Vice-President of Hill and Knowlton, one of the global top three public affairs consultancies. During that time she lived in Singapore and also ran their China operations from Beijing. Annabelle is a recognised academic in the communication field and ran the graduate and post-graduate organisational communication programs for Charles Sturt University from 1997-2001.

Rob Masters FPRIA - 2003 - 2005, Principal of Robert Masters & Associates, a Director of InterCapital Group
Rob Masters has more than 20 years in strategic communication across the public and private sectors, as well as more than 11 years as a senior political journalist in Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne.

He delivers lectures and addresses in Australia, Asia, the UK and USA to educational institutions, business organisations, corporations and government departments on issues and change management, as well as strategic communications. Rob is a former President of PRIA (Victoria).

Liz McLaughlin FPRIA - 2001 - 2003, Managing Director Horizon Communication Group
Liz McLaughlin has held numerous roles within PRIA, including President of the NSW Secretariat, Chairman of the NSW Accreditation Committee and Vice President of the National PRIA Board.

Having started in the PR industry in the mid eighties, she has work with chief executive officers and senior management on issues across the spectrum of public relations’ disciplines from employee communication and issues management to crisis and reputation management.

While President she focused on public relations education and she has been a dedicated teacher through her lecturing roles at Charles Sturt University, TAFE and APM Training Institute.

Prof Jim Macnamara MA, PhD, FPRIA, FAMI, CPM, FAMEC - 1999 - 2001
Jim Macnamara has a 30-year career in media, public relations and corporate communication and is an internationally recognised authority on research for planning and measurement of communication.

He has recently taken up the position of Professor of Public Communication at the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as well as Director of the Australian Centre for Public Communication (at UTS).

After working in senior corporate PR positions, he founded and headed a PR consultancy for 13 years, before establishing the Asia Pacific office of global media analysis firm, CARMA International and working full-time in media and communication research. Jim is the author of 11 books.
