Ishtar Schneider from the PRIA NSW Council gives us a run-down of the recent event 100% YOU: Why self-care is the key to success in PR and what to do about it.

I was lucky enough to work with the Public Relations Institute of Australia to put on the recent 100% YOU: Why self-care is the key to success in PR and what to do about itevent.

We had an awesome panel of speakers who touched on topics ranging from stress and burnout, managing mental health in the agency environment and vulnerability in leadership to things like vicarious trauma that occurs for PRs/journos on the job and sensitivities to consider when communicating around mental health and suicide.

There was a stellar panel of speakers including Talitha Cummins (TV and radio presenter and mental health advocate), Katarina Farrell (N2N / Herd MSL), Dr Tim Sharp (aka Dr Happy, Psychologist, Author and Founder of The Happiness Institute), Marc Bryant (Everymind) and Shiva Kumar (LinkedIn). Industry insights were also shared by moderator Lucinda Attrill from our lovely sponsors Salt & Shein.

Great tips & hints from our panel were shared on social media using #PRIAMentalHealth and all attendees left the night with some practical tips on how to encourage positive mental health and empowered to continue to break the stigma around mental health issues within their own organisations.
