PR Masterclass a hit again in Sydney and Melbourne

Thu, Jan 28 2016

January saw the fourth iteration of the PRIA Summer Masterclass Series in Sydney. As with previous years, we’ve also been able to roll the masterclass series out to various cities across the country for 2016. This summer, the series also took place in Melbourne with both three-day intensives running at the same time, based on the same program content.

The masterclass series has now been held in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra - with a view to rolling out the format to other states and territories next year. Part of the success of the series is that it is three serious days of intensive learning. We appreciate the big time commitment, especially for a modern day public relations professional, but the full gamut of the three days provided attendees with the latest trends, tips and methods on how to be a better communicator – whether it was social media, digital storytelling, blogger relations or crisis management, we had an expert on hand. Although the series has been held in eastern states, it certainly doesn’t limit attendance to that end, with each year attracting people from across Australia. In fact, this year we had international attendees who flew in just to participate in the masterclass.

The content is paramount to warrant the commitment, and this year certainly was able to deliver on this once again, with most rating the return on investment as good to excellent. Both cities had a social element to the three days where guests had the well earned opportunity to unwind and get to know each other outside of the full-on workshop environment.

A big hit for this year's Melbourne session was Nicole Matejic, where attendees said she was, “incredibly talented” and “knowledgeable and pragmatic”. In Sydney, the number one choice was Laurel Papworth, with guests saying she was a “great presenter – and very engaging”.

If you want to get a glimpse of what went on in the rooms over the three days, why not check out the photos on Facebook. There may even be a few slideshow grabs that you can take back to your office.

We’d like to thank all attendees for their continued support in the series and for making the journey to Sydney and Melbourne this year. If you’d like to see a masterclass series in your state, email us today on A big thanks also to all of our fabulous speakers and facilitators - 16 in total - who lent their expertise throughout the three days, some more than once.
