2018 Research Symposium

In conjunction with the 2018 national conference of the Public Relations Institute of Australia in Sydney on 31 October, an academic research symposium will be held on 30 October 2018 in Sydney at the University of Technology Sydney, Building 1 (the tower), Broadway, Level 22, Training Room 1.

Scholars are invited to submit extended abstracts of 750–1,000 words for academic papers to be presented at the Research Symposium no later than 5 pm, Friday 14 September 2018 (sooner if possible).

CONDITIONS:

  1. The theme of the PRIA national conference is ‘The Authentic Communicator’. Extended abstracts for papers on the theme of ‘The Authentic Communicator’ will be particularly welcome, but the symposium is open to research papers on all topics relevant to public relations and strategic corporate, government or organisational communication.
  2. Extended abstracts must be anonymous for blind peer review, including removal of document ‘Properties’ which show the author and organisation name.
  3. Abstracts should be formatted in Times New Roman font, 12 point for text, with 1.5 or double line spacing.
  4. In-text citations and referencing of abstracts is the author’s choice provided it is consistent throughout. However, accepted abstracts will be eligible for publication in a SPECIAL ISSUE of Asia Pacific Public Relations Journal subject to full paper peer review. Therefore, if you plan to submit for the special issue, you may wish to follow the style of the APPRJ (APA 6th edition).
  5. All presenters and attendees are required to register to attend.

The Convenor will endeavour to notify authors of all accepted abstracts within two weeks of submission. But the tight deadline, which was outside the control of the symposium organisers, means that travel bookings may have to be made earlier. All academics are encouraged to attend irrespective of submission, as this is the only research symposium of its kind in Australia and a chance for networking as well as presenting and hearing about research in the field.
