Emotive and provocative some of the best campaigns the world has seen over the past few years have delivered tangible positive results for the environment or society, and sometimes both.

The panel will see multi Cannes Lion and D&AD award winners Seamus Higgins, ECD, Host/Havas, Mike Spirkovski CCO, Saatchi and Saatchi, Asheen Naidu, ECD, BWM, and Jen Speirs, Deputy ECD, BMF Australia give insight into their creative process to deliver these great campaigns and how PR played a key role in their success. You will also get valuable tips on how best to work with creatives or creative agencies as a communications professional to deliver impact, in addition to gaining insight into how to improve your creative thought process.

Seamus Higgins
With 18 years of experience across three continents, Seamus is Executive Creative Director at Host/Havas Sydney. Over the last two years he has helped lead a creative resurgence that saw them win Agency of the Year at the 2018 Australian AWARD Awards, nine D&AD pencils, including a coveted black pencil, and three Cannes Lions Grand Prix, including Titanium, for the Palau Pledge project.
Seamus has also lead the Australian Defence Force Recruiting account, with 2017 seeing them achieve the most successful year in their history.
Seamus’ inspiration lies in creating ideas that have the power to change things, and over the years he’s developed an unhealthy obsession with the craft of their delivery

Mike Spirkovski
Mike is Chief Creative Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia. He sits on the Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide Creative Board and Worldwide Toyota Creative Leadership Team. Recently, he was appointed Chairman of Award.
Mike’s career spans 17 years in the industry, where he has lead some of the top Agencies in Australia. Under his creative leadership, Saatchi & Saatchi was awarded Australia’s best Campaign of the Year at AdNews, followed up by best car ad worldwide at One Show Automotive and opened Saatchi & Saatchi in Melbourne.
In 2016, Saatchi & Saatchi was awarded back-to-back Gold at Cannes and Australia’s only prestigious Innovation Lion, making them the only agency in the world to have won 2 consecutive Innovation Lions.
At D&AD 2017, Saatchi & Saatchi was the second most awarded Australian agency. This was followed by winning Grand Prix at the WARC Innovation Awards.
Mike’s proudest moment was earning the rare Cannes Titanium Lion for Earth Hour initiative, which was cited in the Gunn Report as “best 360 campaign ever” now a globally recognised brand with billions of supporters worldwide.

Asheen Naidu
Asheen has been working in advertising for 20 years in South Africa, Singapore, New York and Australia. It’s his love of ideas that gets him up in the morning. That, and his 2 gorgeous daughters.
He’s worked across a wide variety of brands in every conceivable category. These include Mercedes Benz, General Motors, Apple, Virgin, NRMA Insurance, Google, Coca Cola and McDonalds to name a few.
During his career, he has collected more than 100 awards, including 20 Cannes Lions, with a Grand Prix for Good, Gold, Silver and 3 Bronzes at the 2018 Cannes Lions.

Jen Speirs
Jen is the Deputy Executive Creative Director at BMF Australia. Jen has created award-winning work for brands like Carefree, Arnott’s, Berlei, TAL, Bonds, BWS, UN Women, McDonald’s and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. She has been on several award juries, both national and international – including Cannes, Spikes and Adstars. She’s also been invited to speak at events, such as the inaugural Australian 3% Conference. Throughout her career Jen has had work awarded at shows including NY Festivals, ADMA, AWARD, Cannes, Effies, Media Federation, John Caples and Spikes.
As a Creative Director, Jen has had the privilege of working with some amazing people and has pitched for, won and run some much-loved brands. Whether it’s for bras, booze, banks, beauty or burgers, her passion is to create award-winning, culturally-relevant communications, in any media – and to do so in a diverse creative department.
