QLD Event | The Holy Grail of PRs | What journos want... and don't want

Do you wish you had a magic wand and every time you pitched a story to a journalist, they would be in raptures, wanting to run it immediately? Very few public relations professionals have perfected the art of pitching. Time poor journalists no longer have time to read long emails and media releases. Enter Libby-Jane Charleston. She’s currently a writer for 9Honey and news.com.au and spent the past few years as Associate Editor of Huffington Post Australia where she received up to 700 emails a day from PR reps pitching story ideas. Around 98% of these pitches are rejected. LJ is passionate about giving pointers to those in the PR industry about the best ways to pitch to get a journalists’ attention and see that very pitch then turned into a published article or aired on television or radio.

Back in Queensland after a sell-out PRIA event earlier this year, Libby-Jane is an award-wining Australian writer and journalist. She shares her experience from the trenches as she analyses what makes a great pitch and reviews the real stories that eventuated from those pitches….as well as examples of what not to do. For example, LJ is not a sports reporter yet receives hundreds of sports related PR pitches each week. Ditto with beauty products!
LJ presented to PRIA Queensland members earlier this year and following such positive feedback, she is returning to Queensland – but this time to the sunny Gold Coast. She will give what is guaranteed to be an informative, constructive and extremely entertaining presentation.

A select group of PRs will also have the opportunity to workshop their pitch one on one with LJ.
