Want to learn how to make your communication and social media strategies sing?

Bring along your burning strategy question, a problem to solve, something you want to promote or simply a picture or piece of content to this hands-on workshop with two highly experienced strategists from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The sessions will be delivered by Carol Nichols, Senior Manager Communication Strategy and Helen Andreou, Digital Producer and Consultant. Carol has experience in local government, health, Aboriginal affairs and multiculturalism and Helen comes from a TV background. Between them, they will provide insights to move your strategy forward.


Session 1
It starts with your strategy

A successful communication strategy is about much more than a good relationship with the editor of the local paper or having a whiz-bang website. It will drive your communication planning, and help chart your course, to sharpen your focus and give form to every decision you make.
We'll discuss the key steps to setting up and developing a successful communication strategy, talk through examples of what works and what doesn't, and share our hints and tips for turning your strategy into something that sings.

Session 2
Using social media the savvy way
This social media strategy workshop will take you through the best ways to use social media for your organisation. From better planning, to more effective communication, a good strategy provides the framework for using the right channels, for the right content, to reach the right people. Through a series of practical hands-on exercises you'll leave this sessions knowing how to start:

  • Using the right social media channels for your business.
  • Defining your social media strategy effectively.
  • Setting the rights goals.
  • Tailoring content your audience will engage with.
  • Measuring and optimising your activity.
